CEAMS FAQs

1. How will the Program be offered?

The Diploma and Applied Degree will be offered in a blended format. The blended format includes classroom and on-line learning. The Applied Degree will include a Directed Field Studies (DFS) component in an office environment.

2. What qualifications do I need to get into the EAM Program; for example, do I need pure or applied math?

As per SAIT’s Admission Requirements (2007 - 2008), an Alberta High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 50% in Pure Math 30 and English Language Arts 30-1 or their equivalents OR at least 60% in English Language Arts 30-2 and Applied Math 30 or their equivalents is required for admission.

All applicants to SAIT Polytechnic must demonstrate English Language Proficiency prior to admission, including students educated in Canada.

3. What attributes should one have to build a career in this field?

Those who really enjoy this area tend to be big picture thinkers with a passion for details; they are also very analytical and thrive in an ever-changing environment. From a personality perspective, you’ll do very well in Energy Asset Management if you enjoy working closely with others in a variety of team settings.

4. Will there be a demand for the graduates of this Program?

We anticipate lots of demand for grads, with over 200 new positions being created, in Calgary alone, each year for the next 10 -15 years.

5. Will the Program be Alberta focussed?

Both the Diploma and Applied Degree will have a Canadian focus with emphasis placed on the 3 western provinces. Certain worldwide events and industry economics will also be studied.

6. What about transferring credits between other courses at SAIT or Certificates from Industry Associations like CAPPA, CAPLA or Land Admin. Will I get credit for what I’ve already done?

Please refer to SAIT’s Post Secondary Credit Assessment Policy: http://www.sait.ca/pages/cometosait/howtoapply/skills_training/postsecassess.shtml

7. When will the information on the Applied Degree be available?

Details on the Applied Degree portion of the Program will be available upon receiving the approvals of the Program by Alberta Advanced Education & Technology, which is anticipated to be in 2009.
